Answer a simple question for each of the 12 ADP activities to estimate your points and see what you could be entitled to.
ADP is scored across two separate parts, and you can be awarded one, both or neither:
For each activity you choose the description that best matches how you manage on most days, and each option carries a set number of points. Points are added up within each part:
The biggest mistake people make is answering for their best day. ADP is scored on whether you can do each activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and within a reasonable time period. If you can technically do something but not reliably - for example you can cook but have burned yourself or dropped pans, or you can walk a short distance but not without stopping in pain - that counts in your favour. Answer for how you are the majority of the time, not on a rare good day.
This calculator gives a realistic estimate, but in Scotland your form is your case. Most determinations are made on paper, so the actual outcome comes down to how you describe your difficulties on the ADP application Part 2. Two people with the same condition often score very differently based purely on wording. Our free preview shows you, for one activity, how to put your difficulties into the language the descriptors score.
You need 8 points for the standard rate or 12 points for the enhanced rate. The daily living part and the mobility part are scored separately, so you can be awarded one, both or neither.
The enhanced rate is the higher amount, awarded when you score 12 or more points in a part. The standard rate is awarded for 8 to 11 points. Each part, daily living and mobility, has its own rate.
Yes. If you need to use an aid or appliance to carry out an activity, such as a perching stool or a grab rail, that can score points. The calculator includes these options.
It gives a realistic estimate based on the official scoring system, but it is a guide only. Your actual award depends on how you describe your difficulties on the ADP application Part 2 and any consultation.
