Why have I been invited to an ADP consultation?+
Most ADP determinations are made on the papers, without a consultation. You are invited only when talking to you is the only way to get the information a case manager needs - and your invitation letter tells you in advance which parts of your application they want to discuss. It is not a diagnosis and not a medical examination, and it usually happens by telephone.
Can I have notes with me at an ADP consultation?+
Yes. Keeping notes in front of you is normal, whether the consultation is by telephone, video or in person. You can also have someone with you, ask for breaks, and ask for questions to be repeated or rephrased. Nerves make people forget their worst days - notes are how you make sure the practitioner still hears about them.
What if the determination is wrong after my consultation?+
You can challenge it through a re-determination and then an appeal to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland. Notes made on the day of the consultation - what was asked, what was cut short, what you noticed - carry far more weight later than memories from months after.
